The Lomography Philosophy – A Chat with Indonesian Shutterbug Alvin Sebastian (@spidey27)

The first of Lomography’s 10 Golden Rules rings true for 33-year-old Indonesian shutterbug Alvin Sebastian (@spidey27). He started shooting film 14 years ago, and has taken cameras with him everywhere, whether in the mountains or the beach, bike rides or weddings.

We recently had a chance to pick Alvin's brains about his enduring love for Lomography and his film photography journey.

Like many of us, the unique look of Lomography's cameras was what caught Alvin's attention at first. With the help of a friend, he found out about the Holga and secured his own shortly afterwards.

I started using film in 2010 when I saw my friend shooting me with a unique camera. I got curious about it, so I asked my friend “what is that?”. “It is a Holga camera from Lomography”. And the Holga became my first film camera, too.

After that, film cameras became his constant companion on outings and other events. He mostly takes photos of people and places, freely capturing different angles and expressions of the people around him.

I love to collect moments, so wherever I go it's a must to bring cameras everywhere. When I bought from Lomography, my perspective about film photography changed a bit. The Ten Golden Rules make it more fun to shoot with film.

Throughout the years, Alvin has shot with various Lomography cameras including the Lomo LC-A+, Lomography Diana Baby 110, Lomography Diana F+, and the Lomography Fisheye No. 2. He names the Supersampler as his favorite film camera from Lomography.

Meanwhile, he’s also a fan of Lomography’s line of 110 film stocks and uses the Lomography Color Tiger 110 regularly.

Speaking about the 110 film format, Alvin said his favorite part about the camera is its size and portability. Asked what he’s also looking forward to the most in his analogue journey, he hinted at looking forward to Lomography's newest camera, the Lomomatic 110.

“This 110 format is literally a pocket-size camera. It’s so small and doesn't need a big space, I can bring it with me everyday. When Matias and Sally came to our country and talked about Lomography cameras, I was curious about the next project for a 110 camera made by Lomography!
