Meet The Experts
It takes a special kind of vision to appreciate the Diana. Your average person on the street is not too likely to get all worked up about a completely plastic and fairly goofy looking camera. But keep searching and you’ll find a small minority who are absolutely in love with it. They not only recognize and appreciate its massive image-taking potential, but they see nothing but sheer beauty in its retro style and light-as-a-feather body. And every now and then, one of these Diana admirers takes their beloved camera by the shutter switch and does something really amazing with it. We call them the “Diana Experts.” Here are three all-plastic-all-stars from their ranks.

May we introduce you to a true Diana virtuoso, a man who truly “lived the dream” in the 1980s NYC downtown art scene. An unbridled lover of the Diana’s quirks, Mark treasured its simple controls, toy-like feel, and lo-fi results. He used its el cheapo plastic lens to capture celebrities like Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Grace Jones, and also photographed landscapes, nudes, and a ton of other breathtaking subjects. Mr. Detrich is a mild-mannered freelance pro photographer by day, and an unbelievably prolific Diana & Diana clone-collector at night. Over the past decade, he amassed what is surely (as far as we know!) the world's most comprehensive and stunning assortment of Diana cameras. This all-plastic treasure trove was coined "The Detrich Collection" and purchased by the Lomographic Society in the Summer of 2007.
